Xtra Time Web Desk : West Indian Shimron Hetmyer is fast proving to be the X-factor for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing edition of IPL. The 25-year-old power hitter from Guyana has been in fine form this season. Hetmyer has till now scored 223 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 74.33. He scored the runs at a whopping strike rate is 179.83.

Hetmyer was released by Delhi Capitals, ahead of IPL 2022. Bought for a mammoth price of INR 8.50 crore by Rajasthan Royals at the mega auctions, Hetmyer is repaying the trust showed on him. During his stint with DC during IPL 2021, he scored only 242 runs in 13 innings, at a decent strike rate of about more than 150. In IPL 2022, the left-hand middle-order batter has taken his game a notch ahead, scoring 223 runs in six matches at a monstrous strike rate close to 180. He has the best strike rate among the 20 Caribbean cricketers in IPL 2022 including the likes of Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard.

Hetmyer, on his way to being an excellent finisher, seems to be paramount. Delhi Capitals may be ruing the fact that they let go a power hitter like Hetmyer, considering the current situation.

Rajasthan Royals success in IPL 2022 is heavily dependent on Jos Buttler who has been in scintillating form. Buttler is so far the highest scorer in IPL 2022, having notched 375 runs from 6 matches at an average of 75. Captain Sanju Samson’s consistent form will also be key to Royal’s success in the tournament ahead. But if anyone can be the X-factor for Rajasthan Royals this season, it has to be Shimron Hetmyer.
