What will be the name of Jhulan Goswami’s ‘biopic’?

Kolkata: Jhulan Goswami will be the first women cricketer from the country to have a biopic. The biopic, tentatively titled “Chekdah Express” will hit the floors soon. The former India captain, who is also the leading wicket taker in women’s ODI cricket made the announcement in a event in the city today.

The biopic will trace the journey from her hometown in Nadia district to Lord’s .

The movie will be made in Hindi and director Susanta Das said they will start the scripting soon and the shoot will begin in April next year.

“Shooting will be held from Chakdaha to Lord’s,” Das who directed 2012 Bengali movie ‘Asche Bochor Abar Hobe’, told PTI during the announcement at Fanattic Sports Museum in New Town today.

“I have got proposals for a biopic before as well. This is the right time I thought,” Goswami told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

Goswami helped India reach the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup earlier this year when the eves lost to England by nine runs. Goswami took three wickets in the summit clash.

Jhulan will not be the first sportswoman in the country on whom a biopic will be made. Earlier biopic on MC Mary Kom already hit the silver screen in which Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra played the role of the London Olympic bronze medal winning boxer from Manipur. Unfortunately the film is yet to be released in Manipur.

Biopics on PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal are already in the pipelines. Noted Bollywood actress Shradha Kapoor is linked to play the role of Saina.
