Kolkata: Though they lost by just 9 runs to the British on July 23, they had won the hearts of millions of Indians much before that. However today, they won the heart of one of the finest legends in Indian cinema, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. 6 members of the Indian Women’s Cricket team got a once in a life time opportunity to meet Big B and participate in the game of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) today in Mumbai. Veda Krishnamurthy, Deepti Sharma, Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami took part in the game. The girls were also accompanied by the national team coach Tushar Arothe. After winning a sum of 6 lakhs and 40 thousand rupees as the game ended due completion of time, the Indian Women cricketers gave away the prize money to a charity organization at Hyderabad. The episode would be telecasted in Television on September 1.

Speaking to www.xtratime.in correspondent Sabyasachi Bagchi, the girls revealed their experience.

“Like the others I was extremely nervous because I had never met someone of his stature before and I think facing bowlers are much easy than this” said Harmanpreet Kaur.

However Kaur was really astonished when she found Mr.Bachchan to be extremely humble and down to earth. “There was never a bit of celebrity persona in him. He spoke to us like we were his daughters or granddaughters. We were in the sets for 2-3 hours and never for an instant did we realize that he were with this great man.”

Kaur had a lot of questions to ask however due to lack of time she couldn’t ask him many questions, however Amitabh Bachchan asked her about her influence in hitting those long sixes to which she replied, “ever since my childhood I saw my father hitting huge sixes and was really excited and then in T.V I saw Virender Sehwag hitting the same and he instantly became my idol.”

“It has been a brilliant experience and we all enjoyed a lot. We had never met him before, so we were extremely excited. He was extremely cordial with us and what amazed us most was that he has followed our games and called each one of us with our names” said Indian Pacer Jhulan Goswami.

Jhulan was also congratulated by the legend as she is currently the highest wicket taker of the World in Women’s cricket.

Thushar Arothe on the other hand was also extremely happy on meeting the Bollywood Legend and he recalled a special Incident to him.

“In the semis against Australia, the girls ate at 7 in the morning and then due to a rain involved match, the toss got delayed and then suddenly we got a call for the toss. So the girls took to the field without eating. Then there was an innings break of just 20 minutes and then they batted. It was extremely heroic for them to perform till 11pm in the night with having breakfast only in the morning. Mr. Bachchan was amazed and lauded the girls” concluded Arothe.
