Yashasvi Jaiswal treats Vizag with sensational double hundred | INDvsENG

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a spectacular double hundred (209 runs off 290 balls) on Day 2 of the Vizag Test. Jaiswal’s standout innings featured 18 fours and 7 sixes, an improvement from his previous best of 171 on debut against West Indies.

He became the fourth left-handed batter to achieve a Test double century for India, Jaiswal joined the esteemed ranks of Vinod Kambli, Sourav Ganguly, and Gautam Gambhir. Notably, he became the third youngest Indian to secure a double century in Test cricket, with Vinod Kambli holding the record as the youngest at 21 years and 32 days.

Jaiswal’s aggressive approach against England’s debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir, marked by a six and a boundary off sweeps in the 102nd over, played a crucial role in India surpassing the 350-run mark. His adaptability was evident as he faced James Anderson with restraint.

Impressing on both days of the Test, Jaiswal demonstrated proficiency against both pace and spin. Currently, at 381/7, with Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav at the crease, India holds a promising position in the ongoing Test match.
