XT Review | The three most impressive utility footballers India have right now

XtraTime Web Desk: Right when the football in the country has been dominated by foreigners on respective positions, Indian football has three incredible utility footballers, who are assets for their respective teams on these days in Indian football. Here goes our choice:

Prabir Das: Currently the best utility footballer in the country without a doubt. The two-time ISL winning star Prabir Das has been an outstanding throughout. Prabir played an instrumental role in ATK’s third ISL title and played as a right-wing-back in the season.

He started his career as a right-back. He also had played as a central midfielder and as a right-winger during his two year-stint with Mohun Bagan. Prabir was also slotted into the left-back position when necessary for ATK.

Souvik Chakraborti: The 28-year-old Hyderabad FC star is another outstanding utility player. The former Mohun Bagan central midfielder also came from the youth ranks of Pailan Arrows. Souvik impressed as a box-to-box midfielder for Mohun Bagan under the coaching of Sanjoy Sen in the I-League as the Mariners won their first title in 2014-15.

He played some splendid football when he went on loan to Delhi Dynamos where he played as a right-back and a left-back, occasionally. He continued to play as a right-back for Jamshedpur FC later. Souvik is now a regular choice right full-back at Hyderabad FC.

Adil Khan: The Indian National Team centre-back has been an outstanding utility footballer. He started his career as a defensive midfielder and performed at the centre-back position for India during in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Ever since, he made the position his own for club and country.

Adil began his career as a defensive midfielder for Sporting Clube De Goa but consistent injuries kept him away from getting his big break. Adil played for Mohun Bagan as well but failed to make a big impact. He then turned it around at Lonestar Kashmir before signing for FC Pune City in the ISL.

He has played as a defensive midfielder, a centre-back in a three-man defence and as a centre-back in a four-man defence last season under for Hyderabad FC. He can also function as a right-midfielder and in a double pivot. As a whole, Adil Khan is an exciting package for any coach.
