WTC Final 2023: First batch of Indian team leaves for UK, Virat & Siraj to travel on Tuesday

Xtra Time Web Desk: The first batch of the Indian test squad left for London on Tuesday (May 23) for the upcoming ICC World Test Championships Final against Australia to be played at the Oval from June 7-11. Players who were part of the first batch included the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav along with the team’s support staff led by Rahul Dravid. Net bowlers Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep and Aniket Chaudhary were also part of the first batch.

Star India batter Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj will travel to UK on Wednesday (May 24). Virat will be accompanied by his family. The Royal Challengers Bangalore duo were given a break for one day to be with their families. Siraj went back to Hyderabad after the last home game against Gujarat Titans at Chinnaswamy stadium. The fast bowler be joining Virat in Mumbai on Wednesday

Cheteshwar Pujara, currently leading Sussex in the County Championship, will join the team later in the week to be a part of the preparations. On May 29, after the IPL final, the rest of the 15-member squad, along with reserves Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad, will set off for London.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Shami, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and K S Bharat are among the players who are now in India for the IPL 2023 playoffs.
