Wrestler murder case: Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar finally arrested by Delhi Police from Punjab

Xtra Time Web Desk: After playing hide & seek with Delhi Police for last 18 days, finally two times Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar was arrested from Punjab on Saturday. Sushil Kumar’s right hand Ajay, accused in the case of former junior wrestling champion Sagar Rana’s murder. The Delhi Police has caught both of them in Punjab and currently, preparations are being made to bring them to Delhi so that they can be questioned.

Sagar Rana and his two friends Sonu and Amit Kumar were allegedly assaulted by Sushil Kumar and his group on the night of May 4 at the parking place of Chhatrasal stadium complex. Sagar succumbed to death while Sonu and Amit got injured in the schuffle. While dismissing Sushil Kumar’s pre-arrest bail, the judge noted that “the allegations against the accused are serious in nature. From the perusal of record of investigation so far, it reveals that prima facie the accused is the main conspirator”.

Sushil was constantly changing his hideout to escape from the grip of the police. The Crime Branch team of Delhi Police was engaged to catch him. Recently, it turned out that the wrestler was seen at the toll plaza of Meerut from where it was being speculated that he was trying to escape to Uttarakhand.

Delhi Police took possession of all the footage from the toll plaza and examined it and was engaged in tracing its location. Meanwhile, news of his hiding in Haridwar was also in the news in the media. However, eventually the police managed to catch him from Punjab.
