Xtra Time Web Desk: Smriti Mandhana has been appointed the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore for the inaugural WPL season. Mandhana was brought by RCB for a whopping 3.4 crore in the WPL auctions.
RCB’s official social media handles on Saturday shared a video featuring star batter Virat Kohli and men’s team captain Faf Du Plessis. In the video, the duo revealed the name of Smriti as the captain of RCB.
“Hi RCB fans, this is your No. 18 here to make a very special announcement today. Leading RCB for over the last decade has been a very enjoyable and memorable phase of my career. A captain isn’t just the leader of the group. He is someone who creates the culture and carries that legacy forward by earning the respect of everyone around him,” said Virat.
Speaking on the new role as captain, Mandhana said, “It’s such a great feeling to see Virat and Faf speak so much about leading RCB. I would like to thank RCB management for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am looking forward to receiving all the love and support from your fans who I am told is the best in the world. And I promise you to give my 100 percent to lead RCB to success in WPL.”
