Will Team India stick to same playing XI for Delhi test as there could be potential selection headaches again | INDvsAUS

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India middle order batter Shreyas Iyer is on road to regaining full fitness. The batter from Mumbai was not part of the test squad the first test in Nagpur. He is currently undergoing his rehab at the National Cricket Academy and is likely to join the team in Delhi.

With Shreyas getting fit, the Indian team management will have more selection headaches for sure for the second test match in Delhi. Suryakumar was included in the playing XI for first test in Nagpur. The Mumbaikar did not have a great test debut as he was bowled by Nathan Lyon for only 8 runs. Sky was preferred over Shubman Gill who in turn was sacrificed at the expense of vice-captain KL Rahul. Now with Shreyas also getting fit and if he joins the team in Delhi, that will potentially create more selection headaches for the Indian team.

Iyer was a confirmed starter for Team India at No 5 having scored the most runs for India in Tests in 2022. However, his back injury and Rishabh Pant’s accident forced the team management to rethink strategies.

It will be interesting with Shreyas likely joining the squad in Delhi, who will walk in at No 5. Suryakumar, who made his debut in Nagpur deserve another chance which will mean Shreyas has to wait for his turn to make a comeback.
