Xtra Time Web Desk: The upcoming T20I series against New Zealand at home will see quite a few new names being tried out in order to start building the side for next years T20 World Cup in Australia. First and foremost, the axe will fall on star all-rounder Hardik Pandya after his questionable presence in the squad during T20 World Cup.

As per a report in InsideSport, the BCCI is going to ask for a report on how an injured player like Hardik was called up and not sent back to NCA after IPL 2021.The entire fitness issue with Hardik hasn’t gone down well with Indian board. And the board hierarchy will see a report from the team management and selectors about Hardik.

The attitude of Mumbai Indians all rounder has also not gone down well with the BCCI. He chose to stay with Mumbai Indians and follow his recovery protocols instead of going back to NCA. It didn’t make the BCCI happy. But now, after the T20 World Cup, he is set to go on a long break and will be sent to the NCA with focus on his return in the South Africa tour.

“There were instructions to rest World Cup players in IPL and it wasn’t followed properly. Hardik should have been sent to NCA and he should not have been in UAE. There will be questions after failure. But we have full confidence in the team,” a BCCI official told InsideSport.

It is learnt BCCI officials is seeking clarity from selectors and team management on Hardik’s fitness.

As far as the series against New Zealand is concerned, Venkatesh Iyer will get a nod in in place of Hardik. If the KKR all rounder does well in the series against BlackCaps, then Hardik might have to wait longer to get back into the Indian team.
