Kolkata: After a demoralizing derby loss, city giant East Bengal is looking to head back to the winning ways as they will face Shillong Lajong in a crucial I-League 2017-18 game on Saturday at the Barasat Stadium. Ahead of that the Red & Gold Brigade practiced hard under the flood lights. There are a lot of question marks in East Bengal defence and coach Khalid Jamil knows it well too. Veteran defender Arnab Mondal practiced beside Eduardo Ferreira today.

On being asked whether he would be in the team against Lajong, Arnab said,”It’s up to the coach whether he wants me in the playing XI.” Arnab though looked dejected with ground at Barasat.” It’s a pretty bad turf to play and there are chances of players to sustain an injury in this ground,”. Striker VP Suheer has already got an injury on this turf during a practice session and he won’t feature in the side in next few matches.

Arnab looked a bit down after the derby loss, but he is more unhappy with their result against defending champions Aizawl FC where they Red & Gold Brigade played out a 2-2 draw in the opening at the Salt lake Stadium. He is standing beside Willis Plaza too who missed two easy chances of scoring in the big derby. According to Arnab, this always happens in World football and Plaza will definitely come back in their next outing.
