Kolkata: As Virat Kohli and his team embarks on a 50 day tour of Sri Lanka, which involves 3 tests, 5 ODI’s and 1 T20, one man in the Indian team will be oozing in confidence. For India stumper Wriddhiman Saha, life has come a full circle. It was during the last series in 2015, the wicket keeper from Bengal took his first big step towards cementing his place in the side. The next two years saw Saha making a remarkable transformation, scoring 615 runs in 13 tests at an average of 47.30. Saha attributes his success to hard work and not making too many changes to his batting.

“Last two years I have gained in a lot of confidence. I am now getting more matches to play which has helped me in my confidence while batting. I feel a lot more confident while batting,” said Saha to xtratime.in

Saha made a noteworthy contribution during the last series in Sri Lanka, helping India to clinch the test series after 1993.

Talking back on that series win in Lanka, Wriddhiman said, “I had a mixed feeling in the series. I got

injured after playing the first two tests. I couldn’t play the third test. It was my first series win with the team. It would have been nice to stay with the team.”

Saha scored a match winning innings in the second test match at PSS Oval, wherein he scored 56 runs.

“I got more appreciation after my innings in Colombo in the second test. I scored a half century at the P. Sara Oval. My partnerships with Rohit and Amit Mishra were well appreciated,” says Saha.

On his preparation for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka, Saha said, “I didn’t have enough opportunities to practice. But definitely have a plan to get some knocking at the indoors for a few days before I leave. I am strictly following the diet chart shared by BCCI.”

The Sri Lankans were humiliated yesterday against the Zimbabweans yesterday, losing the 5 match ODI series for the first time.

“Whatever their recent performances have been in recent times, they are always a tough opponent at home. Herath is a world class bowler. Playing him well will be the key. He has very good armour and bowls stumps to stumps,” feel Saha.
