Why was Rohit Sharma wearing new sky-blue pads during Team India’s practice?

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India captain Rohit Sharma was spotted wearing sky blue pads, the colour of which is similar to the new jersey which was unveiled on Sunday evening in Mumbai. Not only Rohit, but Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar too was seen with the new pads. There is a possibility that the Indian players might wear the new jersey during the T20I series against Australia starting at Mohali from Tuesday.

The much-awaited new jersey of Team India was at an event in Mumbai. The jersey launch ceremony was streamed live by kit sponsor MPL Sports. The new jersey will sport the light sky-blue shades as it was earlier, moving away from navy blue shades. India had a similar jersey during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007.

The BCCI on Sunday unveiled the new T20 jersey for the Indian men and women’s cricket teams. The unveiling comes a month ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia next month and two days before India’s T20I series against Australia.

“To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you. Presenting the all new T20 Jersey – One Blue Jersey,” the BCCI tweeted.

The jersey comprises a sky-blue t-shirt with sleeves of a darker shade of blue, paired with light blue trousers.

In the middle, the name of India’s jersey sponsor has been placed just above “INDIA.” Meanwhile, the emblem of the kit sponsor has been inserted in the top-left corner. The BCCI logo remains in the top right corner as before.
