Why Rishabh Pant has a good chance to replace Dinesh Karthik for Bangladesh tie on Wednesday? | T20 World Cup 2022

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has a fair chance to play in the upcoming Super-12 match against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday if Dinesh Karthik does not recover in time.

Karthik, who has been the first-choice wicket-keeper so far for the Indian team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 looks to be doubtful after a lower back sprain forced him to leave the field during the South African innings.

In his absence, Rishabh Pant took up the wicket-keeping role for the rest of the match.

Later after the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared an update on the injury to Karthik. According to Bhuvi, the medical staff of the team will give a report soon on the extent of Karthik’s injury.

“He had some issues with his back. I didn’t meet him after this (match ended). We’ll get to know what’s happening once we go back to the hotel, whatever the physio gives the report,” said senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the post-match press conference.

The Indian team suffered a 5-wicket defeat at the hands of Proteas in the Super-12 clash at the Perth stadium on Sunday. The Men in Blue arrived at Adelaide on Monday afternoon. The Indian team is likely to train at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.
