Who will represent BCCI at ICC – Sourav Ganguly or N Srinivasan?

Xtra Time Web Desk: The landmark order by Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the way for BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah to continue for another term but according to multiple reports the former India captain might not be in the position for another term. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is likely to replace Sourav Ganguly as Board President.

According to sources close to Ganguly, he has aspirations to take up the ICC chairman’s job once Greg Barclay steps down following the completion of his term in November. But the million-dollar question is will he be allowed to represent BCCI at ICC.

The Supreme Court order also allows someone like N Srinivasan to return to power. With the age cap removed, he is a strong contender to represent BCCI at the ICC meetings. The advantage for him is he has already been in key roles in ICC.

The Lodha recommendations dashed ex-BCCI chief Srinivasan’s hopes of returning to global limelight but the new order from Supreme Court surrounding the amendment of age-cap has raised his hopes.

If there is an election now for the post of BCCI President, Jay Shah will definitely win uncontested as he has the backing of at least 15 state associations. Many in state associations have a favorable view of Jay Shah.
