Xtra Time Web Desk: Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan and Liton Das may not receive NOC by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the upcoming IPL 2023 season before April 8. Both Shakib and Liton will be part of Tigers’ test squad for one off test match against Ireland starting from April 4-8. It is very unlikely BCB will allow Shakib and Liton to miss the test match against Ireland at home.
Shakib has recently led Bangladesh to an emphatic T20I series win over England. It will be interesting if the all-rounder is given the role of KKR captaincy as Shreyas Iyer is most likely to miss the first half of IPL 2023. The KKR management have quite a few options like New Zealand test captain Tim Southee, West Indian cricketers Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. There are talks about giving the leadership role to Rinku Singh as well. Nitish Rana too has the experience of leading Delhi in first class cricket.
Shakib, who have played a key role in KKR winning two IPL trophies is one of the greatest cricketers to have emerged from Bangladesh. He has been a consistent performer for the national team and has played a key role in their success in recent years. He is the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for Bangladesh in both Tests and ODIs.
