Internet Desk: Virat Kohli reached a milestone when he became the seventh Indian batsman to cross 1000 plus runs in Test Cricket while playing in overseas conditions. Kohli’s unbeaten 76 in the Day 3 test innings at Galle made him surpass Sunil Gavaskar and leaves him behind the likes of  Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azhruddin Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli reached 1026 runs after playing 11 matches with a good average of 64.

Kohli also made another feat when he became the seventh Indian to cross 1000 overseas runs as a captain. Among the list of the other batsman, Kohli manages to have the highest average of all.

Rain played a spoilt-sport in Day three of the first test between India and Sri Lanka. India lost two wickets in the early overs as Pujara and Dhawan was dismissed early. However Kholi and opener Abhinav Mukund took charge of the game and put India in a comfortable position. Kohli remained not out on 76 after Mukund was dismissed in the last ball of the innings and he departed scoring 81 which brought the end to a brilliant innings of 113 runs.
