What is Brumbrella? Ben Stokes bizarre field placement to dismiss Usman Khawaja trends

Xtra Time Web Desk: Cricket fans on Day 3 of the ongoing Ashes test came to know about a new term “Brumbrella”. Fans have already heard about the terms ‘Bazball’, ‘Bazbait’ and ‘Nighthawk”. The packed stadium saw a weird field placement by England captain Ben Stokes which looked like an umbrella. It is being termed as “Brumbrella.”

It was an innovative field setup England used to dismiss Usman Khawaja. England’s field setting for the delivery in which the Aussie batter was clean bowled by Ollie Robinson has been described by many as ‘Brumbrella’. Stokes placed six fielders in front of Khawaja, six fielders at close catching position in front of the wicket, three each on either side. ‘Brumbrella’ was large pitch covering used at Edgbaston from 1981 to 2001.

The incident took place just an hour before lunch on the rain-interrupted third day. Usman Khawaja was batting confidently on 141. Stokes came with the idea of keeping a bizarre field placement. The decision immediately reaped rewards as Khawaja was bowled by Robinson.
