What did Cricket Advisory Committee ask the aspiring candidates for the post of selectors about Rohit Sharma?  

Xtra Time Web Desk: Ashoke Malhotra led Cricket Advisory Committee’s main question to the aspiring candidates for the post of senior selectors during the interview session on Monday was about the roadmap of Indian cricket keeping in mind the two ICC World Cups – 50 over event in India later this year and T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean.

The list of applicants was shortlisted and only those who made it to the list were interviewed by the committee.

The Cricket Advisory Committee members were keen to know about the vision of the aspiring candidates on the future roadmap of Indian cricket. As per reports the CAC wanted to know what their plans are when Rohit Sharma’s tenure ends.

The CAC members also wanted to know if there’s any other player can be tried out as a wicketkeeper in place of Rishabh Pant who recently faced a fatal road accident. KS Bharat looks frontrunner to make his Test debut in the test series coming up against Australia at home. As far as white ball cricket is concerned, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson fits the bill.

There will be a second round of interview on Tuesday before the new selection committee is announced by BCCI. It looks like Chetan Sharma will continue as the Chairman along with Harvinder Singh from Central Zone. Former India opener Shib Sundar Das is all set to be the selector from the East Zone. Former Junior Selection Committee Chairman S Sharath can be promoted as a senior selector from South Zone. As far as West Zone is concerned, there are quite a few names making the rounds. Ex India pacer Salil Ankola is frontrunner for the post.

The new selection committee will start the job by picking the squads for the white ball series against New Zealand and then the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
