Kolkata: The Bengal cricketers are a bit angry with the veteran left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. A pre-season camp is in progress right now but Pragyan hasn’t joined his team mates in the camp. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has already said that they won’t give an NOC to Ojha, despite of that he hasn’t joined the pre-season camp. Other players are working hard at the camp ahead of the Ranji season. A lot of senior cricketers are asking a question that they are attending the camp from Day 1, but without showing up in the pre-season would Pragyan get an easy chance in the playing XI in the Ranji Trophy? Top officials from CAB tried many a times but he is not picking up their calls too. After that CAB has decided that they will send a registry letter to Pragyan residential address at Hyderabad.

Before leaving the Eden Gardens, former India skipper and CAB president Sourav Ganguly said,”I haven’t talked with Pragyan till now but I believe that he will join the squad soon.”

On the other hand Vision 2020 camp is all set to start from September 7 ahead of the Ranji Trophy. Legendary cricketers like VVS Laxman, Muttiah Muralitharan and T.A Sekhar will be present at the camp. Ahead of the much awaited camp the Bengal team management looked a bit concerned about what would be Ojha’s next stance.

Bengal will play two practice matches ahead of their Ranji Trophy season. They will lock horns with Gujarat in a four-day (17th to 20th September) and a three-day (22nd to 24th September) practice match respectively. According to the Bengal selectors if Pragyan won’t join the squad immediately, they won’t consider him for the practice games and Manoj Tiwary led Bengal will face Gujarat without Ojha.

According to a senior Bengal cricketer,”He might have some personal issues. We have tried to contact him many a times but he is not picking up the phone.”

Bengal coach Sairaj Bahutule said,”If he has some issues about joining the team or not, he should come to CAB and talk with Sourav or Abhishek. The CAB has already said that they won’t give an NOC to him and now Pragyan should act like a professional cricketer. If Ojha don’t play for us in future I have enough option in my team like Pradipta Pramanik, Aritro Chatterjee, Amir Gani who can replace him any day.”

Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Dinda, Sudip Chatterjee and Abhimanyu Easwaran will take part in the forthcoming Duleep Trophy and according to the Bengal gaffer all four cricketers are getting good practice in this camp ahead of the tournament.
