What are the experts saying on Federer's incredible form even at 37?
Suman Chakravorty: "Roger said he hopes it gives other people hope they can do this at 37. I’m one of them." The post match reaction from Novak Djokovic regarding Roger Federer was probably the chorus of a million who love to achieve tougher goals at the age of 37. Playing with an equal intensity in the longest Wimbledon Final is no joke and the legend did exactly that on Sunday. XtraTime.in spoke to two Indian tennis stalwarts Akhtar Ali and Indian Davis Cup Coach Zeeshan Ali to know their reactions about the 'Ageless Wonder' Roger Federer.
Akhtar Ali: I was very upset with the defeat. Federer's record in the tie-break is enviable. I was in a lot of pain watching him go down like that. He is probably the greatest of all. Djokovic too played a great game but he is five years younger than him. He his the ball clean and hard. He has maintained his body really well. He is cool and calm. There won't be a second Roger Federer.
Zeeshan Ali: We all got shocked last night. I was his hitting partner for some time. Of course at the age of 37 it's unbelievable, I mean 15 years ago it was literally unthinkable to prolong a career for so long. We all knew when you are in the thirties, your 'singles' tennis career is all but over. Somebody like Federer who was just a point away from winning his 21st Grand Slam last night, was thus an incredible feat. Being a hardcore Federer fan, we were all heartbroken last night. But he showed all of us if you can stay healthy, stay fit, stay disciplined, you can certainly prolong your career till 37. He is a motivation for us on how to work harder.
