Xtra Time Web Desk : Team India had over all had a very successful year in 2021, with the exception of missing out on 2 ICC Titles, with the more disappointing of the two being the T20 World Cup this year where the team crashed out of the group stages. And now, the former head coach Ravi Shastri has opened up on Team India’s disappointing performance in the show piece T20 tournament.

In an interview with Star Sports, the Mumbaikar said, “Pakistan played well on that day, and against New Zealand, we were timid. We were very timid. It showed in the game. We were tentative instead of going for the jugular. You never mind losing as long as you’re throwing punches. But if you’re timid and tentative then it hurts more. And in a tournament like this if you lose too early then you’re in trouble. It’s not like the format in 2019, where you can play every opposition. I think that is the way to go forward. That format is the best, and then have the Playoffs ideally, if you want to decide the World Cup.”

Now that Rahul Dravid has took over as the Team India head coach from Ravi Shastri, it would be interesting to see how the team can get hands on that elusive ICC Trophy.
