XtraTime Web Desk: Indian cricket team’s star opener Rohit Sharma missed a double century by a whisker but before getting out he just demolished the Proteas bowling line-up. After hitting his fourth Test ton on Day 1 of the first Test, Rohit went on to score 176 runs before his departure.

The ‘rift rumors’ between Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma after India’s exit from the 2019 World Cup did rounds in media for very long. Skipper Virat Kohli had rubbished all talks before leaving for Caribbean tour but still a section of fans had doubt whether the rivalry stories were true or not.

Now, Virat Kohli’s heartfelt gesture for Rohit has put  an end to all speculations.

“Top knock from @rohitsharma45. The dressing room acknowledges,” Indian Cricket Team captioned a video on Instagram, in which skipper Virat Kohli can be seen giving Rohit Sharma a pat on the back.

Skipper Kohli was also seen applauding with great joy after Rohit scored a Test ton for the first time in his career as an opener.

“Opens the batting and scores a ton,” Indian Cricket Team had captioned the video on Instagram.

Speaking to the media at the end of the opening day’s play, Rohit said, “I wanted to take the opportunity and that’s why I made the management aware of it. I am grateful to them for providing me with the opportunity and I am happy I could score runs.”

Talking about his batting plans in the initial overs, the 32-year-old said he wanted to see off the new ball and then cash in from thereafter. “I was very clear in my mind what I wanted to do. The new ball will always do a bit in the initial overs — whether it’s red ball or white,” he added.
