Was Jasprit Bumrah rushed for the T20I series against Australia?

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a huge blow for the Indian team ahead of upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out due to a back stress fracture. The obvious question that is cropping up is whether he was rushed for the T20I series against Australia? Bumrah, who missed the series against West Indies and Asia Cup 2022 was back in the Indian team for the three match T20I series against Australia. He did not play the first match against the world champions in Mohali. But played the second and third T20Is in Nagpur and Hyderabad respectively.

He travelled with the team to Trivandrum for the T20I series opener against Proteas. But complained of a back pain a day ahead of the match. The medical team did not take a chance and has been ruled out accordingly.

Bumrah will now undergo extensive rehabilitation and will report to the NCA in next few weeks. He has already travelled to Bengaluru on Thursday to undergo scans and a full medical report is awaited. Bumrah is the second star player to be ruled out of T20 World Cup after Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder underwent knee surgery.

Was his return rushed due to the T20 World Cup. The selectors wanted him to play a few matches before the mega event. But it seems now that the injury has aggravated and it has resulted in a back stress fracture. Bumrah is expected to head to London for better treatment next month. If he requires surgery, he could miss more than 6 months of action. In that case his participation in the test series against Australia is also doubtful.
