Xtra Time Web Desk: Wasn’t Hardik Pandya dropped from Indian team? Was he rested by the selectors because of his injury? The all rounder opened up for the first time after making his return to the Indian T20I squad. According to Hardik, he was never dropped from the Indian team and took a break myself.
Hardik was in scintillating form both with bat and ball in the recently concluded IPL 2022. He also marshalled his troops well, leading the Gujarat Titans to its maiden IPL crown.
However, things were not rosy for the Gujarat Titans skipper post the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was not selected for the T20I series against New Zealand and West Indies. The general assumption was he got dropped from the team due to his lackluster performance in the T20 World Cup.
The all-rounder has now revealed that he was not dropped and rather he took a break to re-assess his goals.
“Lot of people don’t know that I took off; It was my decision. A lot of misconception is that I was dropped. You get dropped when you are available. Thankful to the BCCI as they allowed me to take long breaks and did not even force me to come back,”said Hardik in a video shared by Gujarat Titans on Twitter.
