Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah likely to be rested for T20 series against West Indies

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India captain Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to be rested for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies. The selection committee led by Chetan Sharma has already met captain Rohit Sharma in London and the squad is set to be announced on Thursday. The meeting was cancelled on Monday after Virat Kohli sustained a groin injury ahead of first ODI. The star batter is all set to be rested as he has requested for it.

The five-match T20 series against West Indies is going to be extremely important to test the combination for team management for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia from October.

Virat Kohli’s poor run of form has raised questions about his place in the Indian team. To make matters worse, Kohli asking for another break hasn’t gone down well with the selectors.

As far as Bumrah is concerned, he is likely to be give a break as part of workload management. Left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav is all set to make a comeback into the T20 squad.

KL Rahul’s name was also discussed in the selection meeting but was not considered as he is still recovering.

The selectors has already picked the squads for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
