Virat Kohli argues with umpire over no ball decision during match against Gujarat Titans? | Video

Xtra Time Web Desk: Why did Virat Kohli indulge himself in an argument with on field umpires during Saturday’s IPL 2022 match against Gujarat Titans? Kohli was seen arguing with on field umpire Virender Sharma after a rare no-ball call by the third umpire.

Kohli along with substitute wicket keeper Anuj Rawat and left arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed got bemused as to why it was called a no ball. The on-field umpire Virender Sharma had initially signalled out but after the decision was referred, Shubman Gill survived.

The incident took place during the ninth over in Gujarat Titans’ innings. Facing a delivery wide outside off-stump from spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, Gill shaped up to play a cut short, only to miss the ball and trigger a caught behind appeal from Rawat and Shahbaz. Convinced by the loud shout, Virender Sharma raised his fingers. But the decision was overturned after a review was taken by Gill.

Few moments later Sharma also made a no-ball call, as the replays showed Rawat had caught the ball ahead of the stumps. As per the game’s laws, the keeper can’t have his gloves placed in front of the stumps while making a caught or a stumping attempt against the batter.

Kohli was seen rushing to Virender Sharma and seeking an explanation. He looked quite animated during his interaction with Sharma as fellow umpire Saiyed Khalid rushed to the scene.
