Internet Desk: Legendary Indian cricketer and former skipper, Sourav Ganguly feels that Virat Kohli belongs to the same league of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Ricky Ponting, and Brian Lara. Beside comparing him with these legendary cricketers Ganguly added that Kohli’s control and ability to adjust with the situations make him different from the others.

“I have been fortunate enough to play with and against the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Ricky Ponting, and Brian Lara, and this man is right up there with all of them. What stands out for me is not just his amazing control and his ability to adjust but also the energy and intensity he brings to his batting in each and every innings,” wrote Ganguly in his column for TOI.

The India skipper reached his 34th ODI ton on Wednesday during the third ODI against South Africa. While doing this he overtook Ganguly to become the captain who has most ODI centuries.

He has scored 318 runs (112, 46*, 160*) in the ODI series so far. Though the World No.1 Test side lost the series in South Africa last month, but Kohli was the one man warrior for the side on that time too.

Ganguly praised the character shown by Kohli and his men on the tour.

“It has been a superb performance from India. To see them 3-0 up in a six-match ODI series in South Africa, especially after losing the Test series, speaks volumes of the character shown by Virat Kohli and his boys,” wrote Ganguly.

The ‘Prince of Calcutta’ also hailed India’s two wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav for their brilliant show in the ongoing ODI series. They have bagged 21 wickets together so far in this series.

“What is even more satisfying is that this performance has come on pitches that have not offered much turn.”
