Tainted, blemished or whatever is cricket in India, it will never cease to garner the attention that it has always been, for decades! Be it for the small town heroes who rise beyond mediocrity and becomes a household name or the extravagant lifestyle, cricket and cricketers are always on the news.

Recently held IPL auction was the buzz as cricketers were bought for jaw dropping prices. In an IPL auction, there are separate metrics that draw attention. Franchise’s selection of team, players who were not retained by their franchise and most importantly the cosmic price tag that stars are bought for.

This year’s talk of the town was the flamboyant Delhi batsman (Kohli) and captain cool of team India (Dhoni). While the former’s actual salary listing was a whopping 15 crore and purse deduction amount was marked at 12.50 crore. The latter who joined the Pune franchise this year earned the same staggering 12.5 crore (the same actual salary that he drew last year with Chennai super kings). The amounts were listed by BCCI on their website in a bid to ensure transparency to the tainted tournament.

Juggernaut Caribbean southpaw, Chris Gayle drew 7.50 crore as compared to 8.40 crore and proteas’ all-rounder Faf du plessis made 4 crore as compared to 4 crore 75 lacs, were the two gainers. The overall auction house didn’t have much surprises in store as a few other big names such as AB De Villers (9.5 crore), R Ashwin (7.5 crore), Dwayne Bravo (4 crore) and Shikhar Dhawan (12.5 crore) did not find any change in their actual salaries.

Other popular names, who saw a dip in their actual salaries were Kolkata knight Riders’ skipper gautam Gambhir 12.5 crore to 10 crores) and spin wizard Sunil Narine (9.5 crore to 8 crore). KXIP batsmen Manan Vora and David miller too saw a slump from 4 crore to 3.5 crore and 12.5 crore to 5 crore respectively.

These are the latest Indian cricket news pertaining to the most glamorous cricket tournament held in the country. Overall, this year’s IPL auction house didn’t see huge alterations in price allocation on players.

In other latest Indian cricket updates of the IPL, Angelo Matthews, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh karthik, Ishant Sharma, Kevin Pietersen and Dale Steyn are some of the big names who were released by their respective franchises. A total of 61 players were released and 101 were retained. Yuvraj’s release was surprise for some and not for many considering his form last year where he managed scored only 248 runs from 13 innings, averaging below 20. He didn’t even contribute much with his bowling. However, he has been selected by BCCI to play for the three match T20 series against Australia and we hope he bounces back really strong.
