Xtra Time Web Desk: Ranji Trophy champions Sourashtra maintained its dominance over Bengal in recent times as they comprehensively beat them by 150 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match at the JU campus on Thursday. The loss meant a body blow for the hosts aspirations for moving into the next round.

Bengal captain Anustup Majumder won the toss and put Saurastra to bat on a placid wicket at the JU Second Campus and saw them scoring a handsome 324 for 9. In reply Bengal innings folded for 175 in 37 overs.

For the visitors opener Avi Barot gave the Saurashtra innings the necessary boost with a 90 ball 83 studded with 8 boundaries. Thereafter middle order bat Prerak Mankad scored a  run-a-ball 59, while Arpit Vasavada plundered 91 runs off just 59 deliveries to prop up the Saurashtra innings. Bengal bowlers flattered to deceive and average fielding made matters worse.

None of the Bengal batsmen could put any resistance before a disciplined bowling attack from Saurashtra. They capitulated before some quality attack led by skipper Jaydev Unadkat.
