Xtra Time Web Desk: Tamil Nadu off spinner Washington Sundar put up a timely performance to stake his claim back in the national side for the tour to South Africa. The off spinner, who has been out of the Indian team due to an injury picked three wickets in Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Mumbai on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu batter Shahrukh Khan too played a brilliant knock (66 off 35 balls) as the Syed Mustaq Ali champions defeated Mumbai by 54 runs.
Put into bat first, Tamil Nadu posted 290/8. At one point of time TN were struggling at 179/5 but Shahrukh’s late blitz helped them post a competitive total. The former Punjab Kings cricketer smashed 6 fours and 5 sixes.
In response, Mumbai struggled. Within the first 10 overs, Mumbai were reduced to 33/3 as Yashasvi Jaiswal scored paltry five runs. In the middle overs, Mumbai did accelerate the scoring but it wasn’t enough as Washington Sundar bagged 3/60 and M Siddharth scalped three wickets for 43 runs to bowl out Mumbai for 236 runs.
