Venkatesh Iyer taken to hospital for precautionary check-up as KKR starts pre-season camp in Kolkata | IPL 2023  

Xtra Time Web Desk: Two times former IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders started their main pre-season camp in Kolkata ahead of IPL 2023. All rounder Venkatesh Iyer was seen being taken to local hospital for a precautionary check-up. It is not known what it is all about.

Meanwhile the last seasons runners up started their preparatory camp in Kolkata, Chandrakant Pandit’s side practiced at the Pankaj Roy Indoor Coaching Centre at the Eden Gardens. Most domestic players including the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Anukul Roy, Rinku Singh, Kulwant Khejroliya, Mandeep Singh and Nitish Rana was present at the first day’s practice. All the support staffs including Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Bharat Arun were also present.

Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell too arrived in Kolkata on Sunday. Dre Russ was in Delhi for a day as he visited SS factory in    Meerut for some changes in his bat. Other overseas cricketers will soon join the KKR camp. Bangladesh duo Shakib al Hasan and Liton Das will join the side after the series against Ireland at home.

The KKR management is yet to announce the interim captain as Shreyas Iyer is certain to miss the first few matches. The Kolkata franchise is awaiting a medical report from BCCI which will be available to them in a week after which they will take a call. There are quite a few options as far as captaincy is concerned like Tim Southee, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh.
