KKR bowling coach to be associated with Sri Lankan Cricket
Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach Bharat Arun, along with Jonty Rhodes and Alex Kountouri Is set to contribute their expertise to Sri Lanka Cricket's (SLC) initiative aimed at advancing the skills of local coaches, trainers, and physiotherapists. In a recent release, the SLC announced its intention to enlist the services of these cricketing stalwarts, conducting periodic training programs in selected areas.
The new assignment will not hamper Bharat Arun’s role with IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He will be available for KKR during the time of IPL 2024 which is scheduled to start from March 22.

The decision to appoint the likes of Arun, Rhodes and Kontouri was taken during an Executive Committee meeting of SLC, where it was further decided to introduce an award honouring outstanding performance by junior cricketers in Sri Lanka's school cricket tournaments. The accolade will be bestowed upon cricketers at the Under-15 and Under-17 levels, emphasizing the board's commitment to nurturing emerging talent.
In a bid to create a comprehensive cricketing pathway, the SLC is contemplating the initiation of an Under-21 program, particularly targeting individuals without a structured route post-school cricket. Ensuring swift implementation, the board plans to engage with all relevant stakeholders to kickstart the program promptly.
