Xtra Time Web Desk : Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fast bowler Umran Malik perhaps got the biggest compliment in his short career so far from Dale Steyn. The 22-year-old fast bowler from Kashmir is the new inspiration for the former Proteas speedster, who is currently enjoying his stint with Umran at the SRH camp in IPL 2022. And Steyn has every reason to feel inspired by Umran as the young fast bowler has been consistently clocking 150 km/h.

On Friday night’s IPL 2022 clash against KKR, Umran had Steyn jump off his seat in the dug-out when he bowled an unplayable yorker at Shreyas Iyer. The snorter from Umran had Shreyas watching haplessly as the stumps got uprooted. The fist punch from Umran got Steyn excited too in the dug-out as he embraced SRH spin-bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan with the same enthusiasm and joy that he showcased when he rattled the opposition batter's defence during his playing days.

The incident happened during the final delivery of the 10th over. Umran, tracking Shreyas’ movement back and across to make room to play the shot through the off side bowled a deadly yorker that crashed on to the stumps. The KKR skipper had hardly sighted the ball and by the time he could understand what happened, he was dismissed by the young Kashmiri bowler.

Umran went on finish his quota of 4 overs with terrific figures of 2/27. KKR batters found his express pace too hot to handle that it seemed the only way of scoring runs against the tearaway pacer was edges behind the wicket.

In an interview to host broadcasters before the match, Umran revealed the secret of him bowling fast. According to Umran, he loves bowling fast and since it’s a long season of IPL, he eats a lot and sleeps well for 10-12 hours to recharge his batteries.

Couple of days back during a Q&A session on Twitter, Steyn had praised Umran Malik, insisting that the youngster has huge potential and that he could be the next big thing, given he adds variations to his bowling.

Steyn suggested. Umran should never lose pace. And his advice to the youngster will be to bring some variety in his skills which will take him a long way forward.

On being asked who his inspiration is at the moment, Steyn was lightning quick with his response and it was Umran Malik.
