Kolkata: Who is that new coach for East Bengal? General Secretary, Kalyan Majumder was asked that whether Trevor James Morgan will be reappointed again. Kalyan Majumder neither gave a positive nor a negative reply to this question. He said,” I was the one who gave green signal for an Indian coach rather going for a foreign coach. But my recruitment did not click. The tuning was not proper in between the players and coach. Some very good players were sitting in the reserve bench.” But this is also true that before appointing Biswajit Bhattacharya as the coach at the beginning of the season, there was lot of speculations on Morgan as this has been the trend in East Bengal tent in the beginning of every season since Morgan’s departure.

Earlier, in the beginning of the season, Morgan was a hot topic of discussion as Red and Gold football secretary Santosh Bhattacharya and UB representative Amit Sen was by Morgan’s side to bring him back as coach when other officials was against Morgan. At the end of the day, it was Biswajit Bhattacharya who was appointed as the coach of the Red and Gold.

Biswajit Bhattacharya resigned as East Bengal coach today morning through an email to the club officials and his resignation letter was accepted by the club. Kalyan Majumder quoted as saying,” We have received his letter and accepted it. We have forwarded the letter to the club President. We don’t want to keep any unwilling horse as he did not discuss with us before taking this decision.”

Sanjay Majhi has been appointed as the head coach for East Bengal ahead of the last two matches in the I-league. Although, Sammy Omollo is certified with CAF A –license but his designation is not accepted by AIFF. So, Sanjay Majhi has been given the charge of the team and Debjit Ghosh will work as the Mentor.
