Xtra Time Web Desk: A day after East Bengal club officials cleared all dues of former Costa Rican World Cupper Jhonny Acosta, one of the key players for SC East Bengal in ISL last season Jacques Maghoma has decided to part ways with the Kolkata club. The midfielder from Congo has joined Spalding United ahead of 2021-22 seasons.

The former Birmingham City player decided to ply his trade in India as he joined Kolkata outfit SC East Bengal. Maghoma, who played five seasons at Birmingham City lost interest with SC East Bengal only after a season.

Now 33, Maghoma has linked up with former DR Congo team-mate Gabriel Zakuani, who now manages Spalding.

Zakuani said: “Jacques has been with an Indian Premier League side recently. Now he’s back and looking for his next challenge, I look forward to introducing him to the squad at the weekend and giving him the next step on his journey.

“He has lots of ability and I am sure he will keep developing further.”

Maghoma will also join up with former Peterborough United and Hull City winger Marcus Maddison, who signed for Spalding United earlier this summer after a spell with Bolton Wanderers.

It is being rumored that Nigerian striker Bright Enobakhare can also leave SC East Bengal as the club is at loggerheads with its investors Shree Cement over signing the final agreement.
