Xtra Time Web Desk: Ravindra Jadeja’s gesture towards MS Dhoni, the night he finished the match against Mumbai Indians was an indication what was transpiring at the Chennai Super Kings camp. It was a submission by Jadeja that Dhoni is and will remain the best as far as leading the franchise is concerned.

MS Dhoni has taken the CSK captaincy back from Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder failed to impress as CSK are at 9th place with just 2 wins in 8 matches.

“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK,” CSK said in an official statement.
“MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the statement added.

The captaincy undoubtedly was having a negative impact on Jadeja the player. He lost his form. The all-rounder struggled with the bat and also could not bag wickets CSK needed.

Xtra Time try to look at what might be the reasons for Dhoni taking over the reigns of CSK captaincy again.

The first and foremost reason should be the management was not happy with Ravindra Jadeja’s performance as captain.

The second reason possibly could be that Chennai Super Kings staring at not making the Playoffs . The franchise is currently lying 9th spot in Points Table. The team still has a chance to Qualify for playoffs provided they win all their matches. Management felt they can’t afford any risks with Jadeja & decided to give back the captaincy band to Dhoni.

The third reason could be Jadeja’s own personal form. The left hander has scored just 112 runs at an average of 22.40. While bowling he has picked just 5 wickets in eight games.
