“They should go to fashion shows to find slim & trim guys”: Sunil Gavaskar lashes at selectors for ignoring Sarfaraz Khan

Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India captain and legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar came down heavily against the selection committee for ignoring Sarfaraz Khan. The Little Master was quite upset with the recent selections of the test squad for the first two test matches against Australia.

In an interview to India Today, Gavaskar criticized the selectors for neglecting Sarfaraz because of his physique rather than looking at the runs he scored consistently in domestic circuit. He went on record in suggesting the selectors that if they are looking for slim and trim guys, then they must go to a fashion show and pick some models instead. He suggested them not to pick a cricketer depending on the size and physique but the runs they score or wickets they take.

“If you are looking for only slim and trim guys, then you might as well go to a fashion show. Pick some models and then give them a bat and ball in their hand and then include them. You have cricketers in all shapes and sizes. Don’t go by the size, but go by the runs and the wickets,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.

Sarfaraz Khan was ignored for the upcoming high-profile series featuring India and Australia. The right-handed batsman silenced his doubters with a century in the first innings of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Delhi.
