These youngsters are unfortunate about not getting a chance in WI tour

XtraTime Web Desk: Last Sunday the selectors met at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) headquarters in Mumbai to pick the squad for the West Indies tour, which is set to begin from August 3. There was a bit surprise as most of the senior cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Mohammed Shami were picked for the series despite of a speculation that they would be rested for the limited overs series. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah (will play the test series) and Hardik Pandya gets full rest for the series. MS Dhoni was also not picked as he opted to take a two month break from cricket to be with his paramilitary regiment.

A few youngsters like of Navdeep Saini, Rishabh Pant, Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar and Khaleel Ahmed were also given chances by the selectors for the tour. However, there were still some players who were unlucky to miss out on the selection for the tour. Here are those players:

Shubman Gill: The fans were in shock when the selectors didn’t pick him for the Indian team despite of a brilliant performance in the recently concluded India A tour where he was adjudged Player of the tournament. He hit three half centuries in the tour. Beside that  has scored 1545 runs in 38 matches at an impressive average of 45.44 for India A while also picking up the Emerging Player of the Tournament award in the IPL this year.

Prithvi Shaw: It’s painful for all the cricket fans of India to see Prithvi Shaw still injured and not getting a call up in the in the playing XI. After hitting a century in his debut test match he had a great IPL season as well. But after that he got a hip injury from which he is still recovering. Let’s hope he recovers soon and the nation gets to see it’s one of the best talents.

KS Bharat: Afterthe meeting on Sunday Chief Selector MSK Prasad admitted that Bharat was very close to make it to the squad in place of Wriddhiman Saha. In his last 11 outings for India A, Andhra wicket-keeper batsman Bharat has scored 686 runs as he hit three tons and two half centuries.
