These two clubs have a big rivalry amongst themselves. He debuted for Friend Sporting where co-incidentally he was coached by his father Sovan. Sunny played some blistering knocks for Friend Sporting which helped to get select in the Bengal Ranji Trophy squad. Later, he was forced to shift from Friend Sporting to United Athletic Club due to internal issues. In the mean time, when Sunny was playing club cricket and representing Bengal, players Like Sourav Ganguly went a long way by donning Indian jersey in International arena and also captaining India successfully. Many other players from Bengal also were in the reckoning for the Indian team but Sunny was never thought even for the 30 member probables. Sunny had also gone through bad patches which had happened to many cricketers in the past but he had never lost hope on himself and always tried to overcome it.
