On Thursday, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson shared a glimpse of the special 'champion' jersey that Team India is set to wear during the grand felicitation ceremonies in New Delhi and Mumbai. This striking blue jersey, featuring a second star above the BCCI logo and the word 'champions' emblazoned on the front, symbolizes their second T20 World Cup win.

Captain Rohit Sharma and his teammates touched down in New Delhi from Barbados, where they had been stranded due to Hurricane Beryl. The victorious squad, along with head coach Rahul Dravid and the support staff, were greeted by thousands of jubilant fans at the New Delhi airport. The excitement was palpable as the team paraded the T20 World Cup trophy, and fans eagerly chanted for their cricketing heroes, with Virat Kohli receiving special acclaim.

The celebrations continued at the ITC Maurya hotel in New Delhi, where the team participated in a cake-cutting ceremony. Before heading to Mumbai, the champions are scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding a distinguished touch to their triumphant return.

In Mumbai, the cricketing stars will be honored with a grand felicitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The highlight of the celebrations will be an open-top bus victory parade along Marine Drive, where fans will have another chance to celebrate with their heroes. During these events, the team will don the specially-designed champion jerseys shared by Sanju Samson, marking their monumental achievement.

The team's journey back from Barbados was not without its challenges. After spending an additional four days on the Caribbean island due to the hurricane, they finally made their way home on a special chartered plane arranged by the BCCI. Despite the extended journey, the spirits of the players and fans remained high.

India’s path to glory was paved with stellar performances, culminating in a thrilling final against South Africa at the Kensington Oval. Virat Kohli’s timely 76 runs, coupled with outstanding bowling by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, helped India defend a total of 176 runs. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya’s composure in the final over sealed the victory, bringing immense joy to Indian cricket fans worldwide.
