Xtra Time Web Desk: Dinesh Lad, the revered childhood coach of Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, has made an earnest appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a heartfelt video posted by the Press Trust of India, Lad requests the allocation of a substantial cricket ground where he can continue his lifelong mission of grooming young cricketers.

“I appeal to honourable PM Narendra Modi to grant me a good cricket ground. I have been working in the cricket coaching field for the last 28 years, and I have never expected anything while working nor did I ever take money from anyone,” said Lad.

For nearly three decades, Dinesh Lad has been a cornerstone of cricket coaching in Mumbai. His dedication has seen 92 of his students play for the Mumbai state, with ten making it to the prestigious Mumbai Ranji team. Despite his impressive track record, Lad faces a significant challenge: the tiny ground at Swami Vivekananda School in Borivali, where he coaches.

“My school (Swami Vivekananda in Borivali) has had 92 students play for the Mumbai state and ten of them played for Mumbai in Ranji, but I don’t have a ground. The ground in that school is tiny. I have never taken money while coaching. I appeal to honourable PM Modi to grant me a good cricket ground. I have applied for a ground in Borivali, and if I get that ground, I promise you I will be able to give more kids to represent the nation,” Lad added.

Among his many achievements, Dinesh Lad is best known for mentoring Rohit Sharma, guiding him from a young talent to a global cricketing icon. His influence extends beyond the cricket pitch, as he has also adopted ten children from rural areas, dedicating himself to their development.
