Xtra Time Web Desk : Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has made a strong plea to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding match conditions and ground preparations. Speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar highlighted the importance of having adequate covers to protect the entire outfield, not just the pitch, during adverse weather conditions.

"Request to ICC, that it should not host the matches where there are no covers to cover the entire ground. You just can't cover the pitch and let the other parts of the ground get wet. So many people were waiting to see top stars in action but they were denied. This should not be the case," Gavaskar stated emphatically.

Gavaskar's comments come in the wake of several matches being disrupted or delayed due to wet outfields, disappointing countless fans eager to watch their favorite players in action. His appeal underscores the necessity for comprehensive ground protection to ensure that games can proceed as scheduled, providing an uninterrupted experience for both players and spectators.

The former cricketer's stance is a call to action for the ICC to reassess and improve its guidelines on ground preparation, ensuring that all venues are adequately equipped to handle inclement weather, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the game and the enjoyment of its followers.
