Axar Patel is on the verge of breaking Hirmani's record of 1988
XtraTime Web Desk - After a dream debut in test cricket, Axar Patel is on the verge of creating an unique record in test cricket. After picking a fifer in the second innings of his first test at Chennai, Axar did it twice at Ahmedabad. He picked up six wickets in the first innings of the pink ball test and five wickets in the second ball test and took the game away from England.
Axar became the first bowler to pick 11 wickets in a day and night test but what lies ahead of him is a huge milestone, if achieved. If Axar manages to take 14 wickets in the next match, he will become the player with most test wickets after 3 tests.
Narendra Hirmani currently sits at the top of the table with 31 wickets. Axar currently has 18 in his name after 2 tests. This is however not the only record Axar will look to break. If Axar manages to a fifer in the first innings fourth match, he'll be the first player in test cricket history to take a fifer in four consecutive innings.
