T20 World Cup 2022: ICC announces schedule for warm-up matches; India to play Australia and New Zealand in Brisbane

Xtra Time Web Desk: Rohit Sharma and his boys will start their final preparation ahead of T20 World Cup with the series against defending champions Australia starting in Mohali from September 20. The Indian cricketers will assemble in Mohali following the short break after the Asia Cup.

Aaron Finch and his boys will arrive in India early. The Aussies will reach Delhi on Wednesday and head to Mohali. The reason for them arriving early is acclimatise to the Indian conditions. Barring David Warner, it is a full-strength Australian squad that has been selected for the T20 World Cup at home.

As far as the Indian team is concerned, they are supposed to start training at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali from September 17.

For India, it will be a chance to have Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Shami bowl in tandem and regain their full fitness. While Harshal and Bumrah are coming back from injuries, Mohd Shami last played T20I for India back in T20 World Cup 2021.

After Asia Cup failure, it will give the Indian team management a chance to take a stock of the full-strength squad.
