Xtra Time Web Desk: Young Tajamul Islam, from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has won a gold medal in the under 14 age category after defeating Argentina’s Lalina in the finals of the World Kickboxing Championship held at Cairo in Egypt.

Tajamul had beaten her rival from France in the semi-finals. She was among the 30 players from India in various age categories. The championship started on October 18 and concluded on October 24.

This is Tajamul’s second international gold medal as she had earlier won a gold at the World Kickboxing Championship held at Andria, Italy in 2016 as an eight- year-old.

According to a report in Rising Kashmir, Tajamul is now looking forward to win an Olympic gold medal as well.

Tajamal is also a brand ambassador for the government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padao campaign.

In her message to youngsters, she said, “Work hard. Sooner or later it will pay off. Participate in sports and do not indulge in negative activities like drugs etc.”
