Suryakumar Yadav can miss first few matches of IPL 2024

Team India's dynamic white-ball batter Suryakumar Yadav, is facing a significant setback as he is set to miss the domestic Ranji season as well as the first few games of IPL 2024. It is learnt Suryakumar is suffering from a sports hernia. The dashing cricketer is likely to be sent to Germany by BCCI to undergo an operation.
What is sports hernia? It generally happens when the deep layers of your lower abdominal wall or the tendons that attach muscles to your pelvis weaken or tear. is caused by "excessive/overuse of lower abdominal muscles" in sports such as soccer, football, wrestling, etc

Team India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul too suffered from a similar sports hernia. He also travelled to Germany to get himself operated.
Surya twisted his ankle during the third T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg. He had hurt his ankle when he got off balance while stopping a ball in the field. He was ruled out of action for seven weeks, thereby missing the T20I series against Afghanistan at home.
Surya was handed the T20I captaincy in the series against the Proteas as Hardik Pandya had not recovered from his ankle injury suffered during the 50-over World Cup.
