Kolkata: There isn’t much time left before the inaugural Hero Super Cup begins. Before that Kingfisher East Bengal got a massive problem to deal with. During Friday’s practice, the Red and Gold Brigade’s star foreign defender Eduardo Ferreira injured himself. As of now, he is doubtful for the Super Cup which begins from 31st March.

The problem started when East Bengal players were playing a practice match dividing in two teams under the watchful eyes of Technical Director Subhas Bhowmick. To meet an aerial ball, both Eduardo and Gurwinder Singh had jumped and the former landed awkwardly on his ankle and got injured.

The pain was so serious that Eduardo started panting then and there itself. He was seen crying as well before being stretchered off the ground.

TD of East Bengal, Mr. Subhas Bhowmick said to the media that, “Untill 24 hours time we cannot assess his injury. We will do an MRI tomorrow. It’s a big loss for our team. “

With this injury, it’s now clear that East Bengal are in lots of problem.

Besides Katsumi Yusa, a former Mohun Bagan player, now donning the number 10 jersey at East Bengal said, “We need one coach. If there are two coaches, we will get confused as strategies and plans vary from coach to coach. I have played under Subhas Bhowmick at Mohun Bagan in the Calcutta Football League ( CFL ). He is a good coach.”

The media team has to remind Katsumi that Khalid Jamil is still associated with the red and golds. Katsumi by mistake said, “I had a good bonding with Khalid Jamil during our I League. I saw him at the sidelines today but he is now our ex coach.”

He rectified himself by saying, “What’s the point in having a head/chief coach and then a TD. It confuses the players.”
