Sports is supreme and nobody is bigger than sport : Sports Minister Anurag Thakur

Xtra Time Web Desk : Indian cricket has been going through a lot of conundrums over the last one week, after BCCI’s announcement of Rohit Sharma appointment as Team India’s ODI Captain to replace Virat Kohli. The decision has generated mixed reactions across the country but has resulted in a lot of speculations and confusions regarding the atmosphere around the Team.


And now, the Union Sports and Youth Affairs minister Anurag Thakur has himself spoken upn this matter. In a recent statement, he said, “Sports is supreme and nobody is bigger than sport. I can’t you give information as to what’s going on between which players in what game. It’s the job of concerned federations/associations. It’ll be better if they give info.”


Earlier stalwarts of Indian cricket like Mohammed Azharuddin and Kirti Azad had also spoken up on the alleged rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, with both ex crickets emphasizing upon the fact of unity among the team.


Now, with the speculations around the team, it will be very important for Kohli and Rohit to play together for further improvement of Indian cricket and it would be very interesting to see how things move forward and how Team India performs in the much awaited series against the Proteas ahead, which is to start from December 26th.
