Sporting fraternity wish India U19 women team for winning the inaugural U19 T20 World Cup 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Shafali Verma led India U19 cricket team did the country proud by lifting the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. In the final played at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, India U19 women beat England by 7 wickets with 36 balls remaining.

Former India skipper Virat Kohli was among the first to took to social media to praise the Indian team. He wrote, U-19 World Cup Champions! What a special moment! Congratulations girls on your triumph 🏆🇮🇳”

Few minutes after India’s title win, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced Rs 5 crore for the players and support staff. 

“Women’s Cricket in India is on the upswing and the World Cup triumph has taken the stature of women’s cricket several notches higher. I am delighted to announce INR 5 crore for the entire team and support staff as prize money. This is surely a path-breaking year,” Jay Shah wrote on Twitter.

The BCCI Secretary also invited the victorious U19 women team to the Narendra Modi Stadium to witness the third T20I on 1st February.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi too joined in the celebrations by praising the young Indian team. He wrote, Congratulations to the Indian Team for a special win at the @ICC #U19T20WorldCup. They have played excellent cricket and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours.”

The cricket fraternity heaped praises on the Indian U19 Women’s Cricket team for winning the inaugural version of the ICC U19 World Cup. From current Team India team skipper Rohit Sharma to other former and like Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, and others lauded the India U19 team.
